Disillusioned by Reality..........!!!!!!!

Reality T.V….Reality shows…have, to a certain extent altered the Indian Television scene and have taken it to a new level. These shows are being embraced and accepted by its producers, contestants and viewers as they offer a wholesome family entertainment, a platform to showcase young talent along with instant name, fame and money. And also relives viewers from the never-ending tortures of oh- so long oldy goldy bickering saas- bahu sagaas….In a nutshell, these shows are like a true (“Real” ) bollywood masala flick…with all the ingrediants of comedy,tragedy,candyfloss romanc,emotions,jealousy,agony..etc….garnished with spicy “Reality”… served hot .
There is no doubt about the sustainability of these shows. Their popularity proves the fact that these shows are here to stay. But, Are they really “Real” as they claim to be..? Or is it just a TRP Game?
Recently, in a Reality Dance Show, Shinijini Sengupta, 16-year-old Kolkata girl lost her voice and suffered a paralytic attack after being rebuked and criticized by judges of the show. In this case, it was the name and fame that allured shinijini; she fell into the trap of reality T.V. and was unable to cope up with the rising demands, pressures and hype accompanied by this reality show.
Reality shows especially those concerned with children needs to be analyzed and checked. At such a tender age, these children are programmed and expected to behave like professionals. Early exposure to fame, money, and limelight affects the psychological makeup of these young minds. In order to get there they tend to loose the innocence and essence of their childhood. The above incident questions the extent to which a reality show could go? Their impact on young minds? And also urges that children should be dealt with more sensitivity and care.

Have We Forgotten The Real Meaning Of Living In Harmony…..? ???????

The recent incident of "Shilpa Shetty" being ...bullied and racially discriminated ...by the fellow participants in the TV show "BIG Brother" must have alarmed the sensibilities of many people.
The issue of racial discrimination is not new…it has been practiced through ages…..in the form of apartheid in Africa….and so on…
The question here is not about Shilpa Shetty…a bollywood actress fallen prey to this kind of contemporary or modern day racial discrimination as I would like to term it ….but about the basic need of living in harmony with the people of different communities.

Human race is certainly known as the most intelligent and progressive race..... still ,lagging behind…in the arena of maintaining harmonious relationships with each other.
Even after proving our metal in almost every field , conquering every possible heights and calling ourselves “well educated”……..we still bank upon religion based politics….

Its not only the Political Leaders who are at fault for misleading people in the name of religion....but also the people themselves who fall prey to such kind of political gimmicks….
Parties like BJP and Shiv Sena among others have always used these tactics for harnessing votes...whether in power or acting as an opposition…or in order to come into the limelight…issues like “Babri Masjid and Ram Janmbhoomi” have always been manipulated politically and are being used as a weapon in hampering the trust and faith of the people among each other…..another addition to this is the “Gujrat Riots”and the very recent example is the controversy regarding the”CD” which is being released by BJP in Lukhnow for campaigning in the upcoming UP assembly elections.

The CD contains derogatory remarks about the Muslim Community.
This shows the kind of cheap politics being played in our country in the name of religion and actual mindset and thinking of the party like BJP who still follow the old “Divide and Rule” policy.

This act has not only violated the Model Code of Conduct but has also harmed the sentiments of the people of the concerning community and again weakened the thread of Secularism.
This kind of behavior creates an environment of hatred and hostility among the different communities and further widens the existing gap of communalism and ultimately leading to communal tensions and riots.
These communal riots and tensions are posing a threat to our very novel concept of secularism that has been one of the pillars of strength of our country …it seems we are on a verge of losing not only “Secularism” but also on a verge of losing our “Religion of Humanity”.
Is this the kind of “Society” we want to gift our future generations ????…..
A society discriminated and based on races and communism..????????.....
A Society that professes the religion of Communalism..????
A society that is run by religious Politics…???????
Well!!!!!!! These are some of the question that needs to be tackled with a more rational, broader and practical approach…..the answers to these questions are still awaited………
